We rented a cottage at Pahala Plantation Cottages. Julia was amazing and the sweetest lady. She booked out reservation and when we arrived that night, we did not like the cottage we were in, but within a matter of minutes, Julia was there and took us to another cottage that we loved. We have never stayed at a place where they are so accomodating and so ready and willing to be sure that you are happy and enjoy your stay. We definitely will stay there again. We were a little sad because EXPEDIA sent us a email to rate our stay and they don't give us much time to explain things, we just had to click happy or sad faces and one of the questions we clicked a sad face only because that wasn't the cottage we wanted and it ended up giving her a negative rating. But seriously, Julia is amazing and so accomodating and the cottage we were in is great. You'll love staying here and going back in time to old Hawaii. Thanks Julia, see you on our next trip!
Just got here and we're giving it 5 stars. Can't describe how perfect this house is. Julia is very nice and easy to work with. 10 star rating in our book!
I 'm can not forget this place..
Cons: The entire cottage and a "Pahala Plantation Cottage" sign would be nice since they refuse to provide a physical address.
Obviously got the worst cottage compared to everyone else in these reviews. Stayed at the corner duplex on Ohia/Kamani St (2BR/1BA). We did not take pics as we just wanted to get out of there ASAP (grimy/uncomfortable). Text directions did not include address, so our GPS told us to take Maile St to Pikake St instead of the Kamani St and it was late/dark at 10PM (4 hour delay at airport) and we could not easily find it. Asked our PPC contact for address and got scolded but still no number address provided. Finally figured out where the place was. Walked in and it smelled like a care home (urine smell). Not sure if that was age of home or previous transients (per sign on wall about transients). Towels were old and had holes and kitchen supplies limited/dirty. Sand was on floor in back room where we "slept." Bathroom had one roll of toilet paper and was kind of/not really clean but again, the age of the home probably had to do with that. We didn't sit on any of the furniture except for the bed and kept our bags closed tightly on dresser as we encountered tiny cockroaches in the kitchen sink. No paper towels, so I just washed them into the sink catcher and poured dish soap on them. Giant spider on wall while you "sleep." I appreciate the history of the cottage but it almost seemed haunted. The area is safe as our PPC contact left the door unlocked (no key)/light on and put our name on a sign on the door. No need for alarm clock. Roosters will wake you up between 2AM and 4AM every day. Aloha
Location: Kona and Hilo are a little over an hour away. According to their directions, there is a gas station nearby. Woo Hoo!
